EXPLORING THE ROLE OF TEACHER STUDENT RELATIONSHIP IN ENHANCING STUDENT ENGAGEMENT IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNING
"Student engagement in English learning is an important aspect of academic success. Positive relationships between teachers and students can play a key role in enhancing this engagement. This research was conducted at STKIP PGRI Trenggalek with a focus on students in the 4th and 6th semester of the English Language Education Study Program. The purpose of this research is to explore how positive relationships between teachers and students can enhance student engagement in English language learning.
This research aims to understand the role of positive relationships between teachers and students in increasing student engagement in English language learning. This research also aims to identify the factors that support the creation of these positive relationships and how these relationships impact student motivation and participation.
This research uses a qualitative approach with data collection methods through in-depth interviews and documentation. The research subjects were 4th and 6th semester students who had various learning experiences and interactions with various teaching methods. Data were analyzed using qualitative data analysis techniques which included data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions.
The research results show that positive relationships between teachers and students can increase student engagement in English language learning. Students who feel supported and cared for by their teachers show higher motivation and participation in the learning process. Interaction full of trust and attention from teachers encourages students to be more active and confident in learning English. This research concludes that positive relationships between teachers and students are an important factor in increasing student engagement in English language learning. The implication of this research is the need for teachers to continue to develop interpersonal skills and create a supportive learning environment. In addition, this research encourages further research to understand the dynamics of this relationship in more depth and how its application can beoptimized in a broader educational context."
